Be Happy with what you have

Be Happy with what you have

After capturing a few photos at gatway of India-Mumbai , I didn’t find a subject to capture so I started capturing my friend’s bicycle. I was looking through my camera’s view finder and suddenly this cute girl came in my frame .She saw my camera and started posing in front of it. After looking at her smile, in front of my camera, I couldn’t stop myself from capturing her.

She lives with her family on street near gateway of India, Mumbai. She had an empty water bottle in her hand and from the way she was holding it in her hand , I guess it was not just an empty bottle but it was her doll. She wanted me to take her pictures, so I started capturing her. I showed her the photos which I had captured in my camera and she felt really happy.

But when I was about to leave , she looked at me with her innocent eyes and asked for some food. She was hungry and I was shocked for a moment . I have seen kids and people near street asking for money but the way she asked for food , I have never seen someone with those eyes asking for food. It was a pause in my life and I still don’t know the reason for that . Luckily my friend had a banana in his bag . She felt happy again while she was eating her banana.

A few months ago , I read a few lines on facebook. It was only a few lines for me before I met her . But now I can say ,I know the meaning of those lines after looking into her eyes. Copying the same message
If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world.
If you have money in the bank, your wallet, and some spare change you are among the top 8% of the wordl’s wealthy.
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture, or the horrible pangs of starvation vou are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering.
If you can read this message you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read it at all.

P.S : Be Happy with what you have.

  1. I have not been to India but I did spend time in South Korea in the early 1970s. I was in the United States Air Force stationed in Kunsan, Korea for 19 months. The locals there are very poor, begging for 10 WAN, which is less than 1/4 of a penny here. We called them 10 Wan kids.
